Magdalena Eriksröd-Burger studied psychology and Slavic studies at the Otto-Friedrich-University of Bamberg, where she worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Slavic Art and Cultural Studies. Since April 2023 she works in the field of Public Science at the OeAD – Agency for Education and Internationalisation and is also engaged as a cultural manager and mediator for various institutes (e.g. Austrian Cultural Forum).  She deals with artistic-cultural topics in the Habsburg Monarchy and its East Central European successor states in the 19th and 20th centuries. Her focus also includes general matters of pluri-, trans- and interculturality, women's and gender history, as well as consumer and food cultures. She was awarded the Georg Schroubek Young Researcher Award 2020 (LMU Munich) for her master's thesis "Prague Coffee Houses around 1900 as a Sociocultural Phenomenon." Her current PhD project “Creative Positions and Cultural Positionings: Women Actors in the Artistic Field in Prague (1918-1938)” (working title) is located at the Bamberg Graduate School for Literature, Culture and Media (BaGraLCM).  In September/October 2022 she stayed as Josef Dobrovský Fellow at the Institute of Czech Literature of the Czech Academy of Science in Prague. In November 2023 she  continued her research as Josef Dobrovský Fellow at the Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Science in Prague. She is founder of the interdisciplinary forum for young scholars "Gender Dialogues", based at the Center for Gender Studies at Charles University Prague.
